A student from Leeds has been found dead in the River Mersey in Liverpool. Aamir Qudeer, 21, had been missing since February 26. His body was found by a member of the public on Sunday.
Posters of Mr Qudeer were displayed in Leeds University Union and around the city in the hope of finding information about the student, originally from Moortown. Mr Qudeer had been a student at Leeds City College, and was studying at Bradford University before his disappearance. He was last seen boarding a train to Liverpool.
Detective Inspector Neil Benstead, of Bradford District CID, said: “We can confirm that we were alerted by Merseyside Police to the discovery of a man’s body, which was found in the river in south Liverpool on Sunday. The body was recovered by emergency services, following a call from a member of the public at about 9am. Formal identification has not yet taken place.”
