Pensioner embarks on round-the-world hike

A pensioner from Leeds is walking 65 million steps, equivalent to a round-the-world hike.

Maisie Allen is completing the feat in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance, measuring her daily steps with a pedometer.

The 84 year old previously completed the Iron Lady challenge, which included over 100 miles on a bike, 26 miles on a treadmill and 3,700 miles on a rowing machine.

 

North Korea puts Yorkshire Terriers in zoo

Yorkshire Terriers have been introduced to Central Zoo in Pyongyang, North Korea.

The Yorkshire bred dogs are unfamiliar to most citizens of the notoriously isolated country.

Unfortunately Lonely Planet has previously criticised Central Zoo, claiming its animals look “forlorn”.

 

Man proposes to ‘flamingo’ at Trinity Leeds

A local man proposed to his girlfriend at the Everyman Cinema in Leeds this week.

33 year old Anthony Curran persuaded the cinema to replace the film schedule above the door with the phrase “I LOVE YOU FLAMINGO… WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

Flamingo is the pet name of his fiance, Yara Ocano Calvo. She said yes.
