This is one of those trends where you think to yourself “why didn’t I do this before?”. The crop is still very much in fashion: roll back to last summer and everyone was crazy for the crop from turtlenecks to lacy lingerie substitutes, but this time round the trend has developed. There was always that one beautiful floral print top or tribal skirt that could match any of our staple basics. Merge the two and we’re introduced to Spring/Summers co-ords.
Matching prints consist of a crop and the perfect pair of bottoms, whether it be skirt, skort, trouser or short. From the sophisticated work outfit, to a night on the town the co-ord is suitable for many occasions. What makes it that little bit better for us students? You can still use each part to create multiple outfits – on trend and dynamic.
High street faves such as ASOS and Zara offer a luxe office wear alternative to this trend with matching blazer and short/trouser combos to perk up workwear wardrobes. Being bang on trend in terms of pattern, these stores offer beautiful monochrome and floral designs. For a more fun, party look, you can also get wonderful co-ordinate alternatives consisting of matching crop tops and skirt. You may have noticed Beyonce styling a pink pencil skirt from Topshop- this also has a matching crop top totalling at a reasonable price of £70. Boohoo takes the trend one step further, with a bra-like top alternatives with matching pencil skirts, in stunning floral prints. For the more casual consumer, many stores offer a tamer combination of the matching short or trouser and top. These can be played down with some boots and a chunky knit or spiced up with statement jewellery and some blocked wedges!
