Fashion; an industry that goes hand in hand with bitchy and skinny lattes. But Sport? Never.
Forget that caffeine fix; it’s time to get a fashion-sport fix – meet Topshop x Adidas Originals, a collection that’s cool enough to get even the most gym-phobic of us onto a cross trainer!
Labelled by the Creative Director of Topshop, Kate Phelan, as a ‘total celebration of the greatness of fashion and sportswear,’ this vibrant line offers classic sports shapes but re-energised through the dynamic graphics taking centre stage. It’s a marriage in perfect harmony between the two brands; bold prints inspired by the London skyline are worked into iconic Adidas motifs such as the three stripe tracksuit and trefoil. Adidas has been given a high fashion makeover-Topshop style, with indulgent, shiny fabrics enhancing the athletic aesthetic. This collection ticks both the brush work trends seen on the catwalks at the likes of Chanel and Emilio Pucci as well as the minimal exercise-de-luxe presented by Alexander Wang. We’re hoping this is not the last collaboration Adidas embarks on; the success of their Stella McCartney range plus this Topshop collab is scoring Adidas numerous points on the fashion field!
For once, fashion becomes practical: these pieces can genuinely be worn for a hard-core personal trainer workout or effortlessly styled into cool street wear, à la Julia Sarr-Jamois. The satin track pants would work well with a clean block crop top for Spring, or play with textures, pairing the oversized sweater with leather skorts for an off-duty Cheer-girl look (minus the pom-poms, of course). We’re lusting after the printed track top; use it as a light-weight bomber jacket and slip it over a T-shirt dress. Finish off the outfit with the Adidas Originals Super trainers; an alternative footwear solution to New Balances.
We’re even taking on the role of fashion fairy Godmother. As well as picking out outfits for you; we’ve found an event where you can where them! This collection will have us sprinting off to Colour me Rad -a 5k race happening in Leeds this May; complete with a Zumba warm up and mid-stride colour bombing! Come on, be a good sport.
