CHLOÉ Crepe A-line skirt, £505, net-a-porter.com
Considering that for at least one day last week temperatures rose above freezing, we think it’s time to start thinking seriously about our SS14 wardrobes. Ladies, ditch the woollen coats and scarves, or maybe just put them aside for a moment, and make room for one of Spring 2014’s sweetest trends: pastel pink. Having been stretched all the way from AW13 runways to this season’s shop windows, this skirt’s sugary shade doesn’t seem to be giving up. A worth-the-money, timeless piece then surely? That’s our excuse.
A pale and often typically ‘girly’ hue, this shade is not to be underestimated. Particularly when displayed in the form of this structured and sophisticated knee-length A-line skirt, this tone is the epitome of fierce-yet-classic elegance. Pair it with a pale grey jumper and some casual trainers for a relaxed springtime day-look, or perhaps get involved in a spot of gentle colour blocking with a pastel yellow cocoon coat for a dressier daytime occasion. A simple cropped black vest and a strappy sandal heel would welcome the addition of a powder blue bag for an evening, offsetting and complementing the skirt’s pastel tone.
If this roseate piece is a little luxuriously priced, do not be disheartened as the majority of high street stores have picked up on the pastel trend and are displaying it all over their shop floors. Ker-ching, hi spring!
