Popular student club Oceana Leeds is closing its doors for good this weekend, after nine years.
Jonathan Guest, the General Manager said: “This really is the end of an era. We’ve played host to over 4.5 million customers.”
A Nostalgia themed night is planned on Saturday, with music from 2005 to present day.
The Oceana Leeds Facebook page has asked clubbers to post their “nostalgic moments” to create a tribute.
Messages on Facebook from clubbers expressed sadness at the closure. One said: “I’ve had some of my best nights here”. Another said: “gutted you’re closing”.
Oceana will be replaced by new club PRYZM Leeds on Friday March 28. The “state of the art” club is to undergo a million pound investment.
Oceana clubs in Bristol and Kingston have already been refurbished as PRYZM, who are owned by the same parent company Luminar.
A second year English student said: “I wasn’t a big fan of Oceana, but I’ll probably try out PRYZM, just to see what
it’s like.”
