Dsquared2 Leather Trapeze Tote, £731.53, farfetch.com

As ever, during this time on the fashion calendar accessories have played just as big a role as the clothes themselves at the shows, and none more so than the handbag. Despite the large majority of LFW goers seeming to agree on the need for bold colours or prints, there appeared to be a friendly rivalry between the ladies in terms of size, with some going for the smaller, more manageable clutch while others preferred the trusty oversized tote.

Regardless of the clutch’s undeniable attraction, we’re looking from a more practical perspective, and considering the only front row we’re likely to appear on this season is Mr Roger Stevens’ we are taking tips from Burberry’s AW14 runway and agree that the bigger the better. Big enough to carry both your laptop and all those books, or snacks, this delightful tangerine dream from Dsquared2’s latest collection encourages our imagination to run wild with possible occasions and outfits to accompany it.

Whether you’re spending the day in the library or out with a friend for dinner, this bag can hold its own with very little assistance. Pair it with a simple pair of pale skinny jeans and a white t-shirt for a crisp daytime look, or dark trousers and an oversized charcoal coat for a deeper evening feel. Ah who are we kidding, this bag suits everything! Except our student budget.
