Sport | BUCS Preview – North battle South in Water Polo clash

Each sitting mid-table in their respective leagues, this week’s men’s Championship water polo tie promises to be a high-quality competitive affair.

A North vs South Premier division clash, each side will be fighting not only for their Uni, but their half of the country and, of course, a place in the group stages of the competition.

While going into the game off the back of a defeat to top-of-the-table Edinburgh, Uni have had a few weeks to put the result behind them, and will be looking for a good cup run to ease the pressure of the league season.

Over at Headingley campus, the women’s football team only have to travel across town for their away derby with Met.

While sitting at opposite ends of the Premier North, Uni will take heart from their 3-2 win on this pitch in late November – one of their two victories this season.

While avoiding relegation is not possible for the team, expect the derby to be as competitive as ever, for a team which has come a long way this year.

In another derby test, the women’s lacrosse team face Met in the Northern Conference Cup.

While sitting a league apart, Met are yet to gain a point in the Northern 2A this season, and Uni will surely look to pounce on this poor form to bag some points at Headingley.
