Fashion | Men's Corner: Trend Report

Twice a year, the fashion savvy man gets ready to dig out his cravat and polish his shoes for men’s show season. While we were revising and finishing off leftover mince pies, London played host to men’s fashion week for Spring/Summer 2014.

From the poise and polished, to the childlike bear motifs, this season’s menswear matched British heritage with more innovative and bold design. We’re giving you a concise report of this season’s trends.

Absolute Animal

Whether it’s animal print or monster motifs, invest in something exotic this season. Christopher Raeburn used the polar bear to motif his jumpers, jackets and gillets, whilst others showed a menagerie of tropical birds on swimwear. This year you can be playful, verging on ridiculous and still get away with it.Blazer, Topman, £120

The Sherlock Holmes

Following last year’s intrepid explorer look, this is sharper and smarter. A dapper but chilled look, wear your tweed with boots and a casual jumper.Jumper, Topman, £42

The Friendly Fisherman

This year’s take on the military trend is more unstructured and relaxed. Reinforce your wardrobe with utility work-wear and open knits. When snow hits, follow Topman and Richard Nicoll who showed style and substance with a twist on historic British naval forces, by wearing oversized military pea jackets and casual net-knits.
