January. Infamously the most miserable month of the year where the realization dawns on us that it’s another twelve months until Christmas and January exams are only days away. *sobs*

The only pieces left in the sales are three sizes too big or four sizes too small and we’re seriously regretting not jumping at the online Topshop sale when it started on Christmas Eve, meaning our wardrobes are empty and morale is low.

On the bright side, as we close our doors to AW, we welcome the new season drop and this year we’re saying hello to some of our old-time classics with a snappy twist. Even as we approach the so-called ‘warmer’ months, a reliable coat still takes prime place in our wardrobe, and with student loans now settled in our bank accounts, we have every excuse to splurge on a new season cover-up. If like us, you’re sick of looking into a monotonous wardrobe where the most colourful piece you own is an embellished grey sweater, covered in left-over tinsel, then inject a bit of colour into your wardrobe with this tasteful number from Jil Sander. Cobalt blue has adorned the catwalks incessantly for the past few years and it doesn’t seem to be making an exit just yet, with designers such as Givenchy and Alice + Olivia all making blue the shade of the coming season – a colour bright enough to inject sunshine into your style but safe enough to still look great with your worn-in black skinnies. Boyfriend coats were huge this winter and seem to be here to stay as students and even the world’s finest stylists turn to the trusty oversized shape to successfully disguise all the guilty lumps and bumps – just what we need after the Christmas dinner overload. With a triple figure price tag, the most we can do is pine over the pages of the Harrod’s magazine, patiently awaiting the high street copy which is bound to hit stores any day now…we hope.
