News | Hyde Park gunman charged with attempted murder

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of two police officers in Hyde Park, Leeds.

James Leslie, 37, appeared before Leeds Magistrates Court for a hearing on December, 6 following the shooting of a female officer. He has also been charged with the possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a prohibited firearm, criminal damage and cannabis possession.

During the brief hearing, Leslie spoke only to confirm his personal details.

Police attended the scene on Cardigan Lane for a routine call of antisocial behaviour on Wednesday, December 4 when PC Suzanne Hudson, 33 was shot with a firearm.

Hudson suffered serious injuries to her face, neck and arms. She remains in hospital but is said to be stable and recovering from surgery.

Leslie has been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on December 20.
