This week’s nail trend follows a current fashion craze that Vogue refers to as the ‘Moody Blooms’. Essentially, this is a dark, alluring floral trend that welcomes the new autumn/winter 2013 season. Textured black, deep purple, velvet red and charcoal grey are perhaps the most popular colours for both clothes and nails alike this week.
Designer brands such as Giambattista Valli, Prada, Valentino and Givenchy have all displayed a tribute to the Moody Bloom trend within their collections, and nail artists have been no different. Check out the examples above for some moody inspiration, where we have a sophisticated velvet red and pearl accent floral design by @wanderlust_nails, a gorgeous deep violet rose design by @droo88 and a rich, chocolate brown floral look by @rebekah_anderson_prunes. Both the grey and burgundy rose nails and the nail design inspired by a Valentino dress from the autumn/winter 2013 collection are by @ahnailart.
Nail art enthusiasts trade in the typical summery nature of floral nail art for a much more sophisticated and melancholy look this week, favouring warmer colours and gloomier designs.
