The Union were forced to evacuate Pulse last Friday night during Fruity after a student found themselves trapped in a lift used by staff.

The unidentified student was able to climb into the lift contraption, which is stored behind a cupboard in Pulse.

The student then got his friend and partner in crime to close the door behind him. They attempted to send the lift downwards, however it became jammed three feet before it reached the bottom of the lift shaft.

The student remained trapped in the lift for an hour, while the whole of Pulse nightclub was evacuated at approximately 2:15am in order to aid communication between the fire crew and the student still trapped in the lift.

Dumbwaiters are small lifts designed to aid catering transportation in restaurants, hotels and other such leisure venues.
