Dancing in the street caused Woodhouse lane to close on Monday night.
Partygoers flooded into the streets, stopping traffic when Halo nightclub closed.
West Yorkshire Police were called to the scene at 3:15 am and were forced to temporarily close the road as club goers refused to move despite door staff attempting to disperse the crowd.
The police confirmed a vehicle, believed to belong to a Halo staff member, was: “seen on the road at the time of the incident”. A source told LS that the member of staff was trying to disperse the crowd by driving into them.
Video footage on social media shows a car stranded in the middle of the crowd, with two males dancing and singing on top of the vehicle. One student wrote on Facebook: “Kicked off in Leeds last night, one of the funniest moments of my life. Was in the middle of the road”
Police and University security are to meet with the club’s management next week to discuss this incident as well as other issues and are liaising with police Licensing officers.
