This week’s BUCS fixtures begin with a football derby double-header at Weetwood, as Uni’s 1sts and 2nds line up against Met’s 1sts and 3rds respectively.
Leeds’ teams have got off to similar starts this year, though both will likely be pleased with the way things have begun.
Despite a 4-0 away defeat last week to Sheffield, the 1st team reside in mid-table thanks to an opening day win against Chester.
Meanwhile, the 2nds face Mets 3rd team, who sit two points below them in the table, despite Uni’s lost to another Sheffield team last week, as Hallam’s 2nd ran out 4-2 victors.
Away from Weetwood, the Women’s Volleyball team face York’s 1st, in a table which has started out decidedly even.
Leeds hold the upperhand however, having played just once in comparison to their opponents, who sit level on three points with Uni despite playing twice so far.
Remaining at the Gryphon Centre, the Netball 1st team face stern opposition in the form of Loughborough.
Leeds sit second in the table on goal difference, and will be buoyed this week by Loughborough’s loss to Newcastle last week, who Leeds overcame on the opening day.
In another derby, the Women’s Lacrosse face Met at Weetwood, as they look to write the wrongs of Varsity defeat four weeks ago. Both Leeds sides sit on six points at the top of the table, with Uni only trailing on goal difference.
Expect a close tie here, as this one has the potential to be game of the day.
Finally, Both the Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams line up at Weetwood.
With adverse starts to the season, the Women sit bottom of the table, looking to make up for a sorry start to the season against Manchester.
Conversely, the Men sit atop of the BUCS Northern 1A, facing fourth place Sheffield for the right to hold on to that position.
