Leeds Fashion Show: Yorkshire’s fashion event of the year, a perfect excuse to get dolled up in our gladrags and witness what Leeds’ freshest designers have to offer this season. Located in Leeds City Hall, we were spoilt to a night of innovative fashion, high-end boutiques and of course a free goody bag with everything from mini hair spray to sparkly surprises.
The show commenced with ‘new kid on the block’ designers such as CustomKee, Roc and Doll, and Zara Mia, showcasing the hottest trends from African tribal and woodland prints, to futuristic shapes and gothic Victorian glamour: there was enough style and edge to please everyone’s fashion desires. Modelled by the hottest talent in Leeds and hosted by the lovely Kem Anyanwu, (Leeds born and bred, of course). We were treated to cartoon prints and vintage packaging from TwoJags menswear, schoolgirl-esque uniforms and high collars from Charlotte Lucy and monochrome and graphic print chicness from Black Dusk.
So, what’s hot for this coming season? Invest in a wardrobe of prints as these are set to be huge. Think t-shirts with landscape prints, men’s colourful, graphic clothing and any Aztec or tribal pattern will get you serious style points. Big and bellowing shapes are also making a comeback and in this case, leaving more to the imagination is the way forward. Go for high necks and maxi skirts, or try something more voluminous with oversized coats or bell bottom trousers, unless you’re a male of course and in that case the skinnier the better. Wave goodbye to the noughties as this decade we’re sporting volume, futuristic shapes and unusual textures.
All in all, a fantastic fashion and glam packed show, full of some state-of-the-art ideas and must-have trends for the season, leaving us all giddy and curious as to what they can pull off next year. Watch this space!
