This seasons colours: wine and cheese. What could be better? From last season’s shows two main colours were obvious for this winter: maroon and a mustard yellow.
Maroon, burgundy or claret (as the very fashion savvy of you will be calling it) are really easy colours to adopt and will blend seamlessly into your current wardrobe. Some of you will already own a pair of maroon chinos and that’s fine, but this season it’s time to up your game and try the blazer, or even embrace the suit. Think Ryan Gosling in ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ and wear it with swagger. You could try a heavy knit jumper or varsity jacket, as it gets colder these will definitely be staple items.
The second colour to be embraced is mustard yellow. This is harder to pull off, but it does mean we don’t have to settle for dull and depressing shades of grey this winter. This colour has hit the high-street big time and while a bright mustard jumper might be a bit extreme, we can all get away with a pair of trousers. Be careful not to take it a step too far, wear one statement piece and match with muted colours or greys to create a real impact.
