Size really does matter this autumn with the revival of oversized fashion dominating the catwalk. We first saw the oversized style last autumn with girls rocking larger jackets and accessories than ever before- but the style has made a comeback for AW13 and is going down a storm on the British fashion scene.

Since London fashion week, cocoon coats, pillow-sleeved jackets and oversized sweatshirts have been dominating collections, most notably seen this season by Céline, Stella McCartney and Carven. It’s impossible to ignore that fashion is going bigger than ever this autumn: who can forget September’s sell-out Marks & Spencer oversized pink Duster coat which was whipped up before it even hit the shelves?

Far from being a little on the loose side, this trend is drastically oversized, opting for dropped shoulders and large lapels to show effortless style. This style is for the confident girl: think androgyny but stepped up a notch. Although big really is beautiful this season, the oversized trend must be attempted with caution. The easiest way to oversize this semester is to contrast big with slimline structure for an elegant yet fashionable look : leggings, cigarette trousers or jeggings make for the perfect pairing with an oversized jacket or coat. Plus, to avoid feeling swamped under layers of fabric, a skinny belt is always a great partner in cinching in the waist. And as for accessories minimal accessories make maximum impact when paired with super-sized fashion.

As for High-street shops,  Zara, H&M, Topshop and ASOS have taken inspiration from the designers and have produced some amazing versions of the oversized trend.

Just remember: the more volume- the better.
