News | Muggers leave penniless

Police are investigating the mugging of a 20-year-old man in Hyde Park.

The victim, who is believed to be a student, was approached  by two men on Sunday October 6, at approximately 11am.

The man was asked to hand over his belongings including his black iPhone and any money he had. After explaining he wasn’t carrying any cash, the victim was punched in the arm and told to leave the scene. Following the incident he stopped a passerby for help and the police were called.

One mugger was described as Asian, aged 18 to 21, about 5ft 10ins tall, slim, with a slim face and a shaved head. He was described as wearing a grey hooded top.

The second attacker was also described as Asian, aged about 20, 5ft 6ins tall and stocky. He was wearing a black or grey hooded top with the hood up.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with any information is urged to call Crimestoppers on 0800555111.
