After a range of mysterious tweets from Leeds University Union accounts and plenty of whispers about an apparent surprise lunchtime performance, the popular London rapper, Tinie Tempah, took to the stage in LUU’s Stylus at around 12.30pm today. Currently on his ‘#RAVINGWITHTHEFRESHERS’ tour, Trampoline star Tempah is unreservedly promoting and performing surprise free gigs at various Universities up and down the country.
Having already hit the Universities of Nottingham, Surrey and Hertfordshire, Tinie asks that fans stay tuned to his particularly active Twitter and Instagram accounts to gain clues as to where he’ll next pop up in an effort to build hype for his upcoming UK arena tour. On this occasion, those lucky Leeds students who managed to connect the dots were treated to a quick paced thirty minute performances that Tempah’s team will be hoping will leave students wanting to buy tickets.
Spinning, kicking and jumping around the stage and giving it his all to his best known hits, including ‘Pass Out’ and ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’, Tinie did manage to lift the sober atmosphere and get a fair few Freshers ‘raving’ and waving their hands in the air before their afternoon lectures.
The Union had also managed to tie in, somewhat conveniently, Tinie’s appearance with a Twitter contest giving away tickets to the Fresher’s Finale this coming Saturday. The event has had a last minute change of headliner, and despite not actually performing, this Tinie Tempah appearance is sure to have gone some way to promoting ticket sales for the Union’s final Freshers event as it certainly turned out to be a much more exciting lunch break than most of the, slightly bemused, crowd had expected.
You can buy tickets for the Freshers Finale on Saturday 5th October, which is being headlined by Wretch 32 and Greg James at www.leedstickets.com
