Drivers are being offered the choice to pay for their parking with conkers at Merrion Centre and Clarence Dock car parks.
Until the 22nd of September, drivers can exchange one conker for every 20 pence of parking fees at selected Town Centre car parks. On average, an hour of parking in Leeds would cost between 10 and 11 conkers.
TCCP came up with the scheme to raise awareness about the environmental costs of driving.
The firm are also sponsoring Hetchell Wood Nature Reserve, which is managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, in an effort to promote woodland and help offset the rising emissions from vehicles.
Jonathan Leadley, Director of Development at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust said: “This fantastic, but slightly ‘bonkers’ idea will raise the profile of Yorkshire’s wonderful woodlands and hopefully raise a bit of cash to help us look after them. I hope some of the folk who get involved will enjoy a walk through the woods they will be helping too!”
