The northern festival scene has long been dominated by the rowdy, colossally large and less than intimate Leeds Festival. However, in recent years there has been a rise in smaller independent festivals such as Beacons. After a disappointing cancellation of their first attempt in 2011 due to flooding, Beacons bounced back last year with an excellent first festival, located in the beautiful Yorkshire dales, just outside Skipton.
In two weeks time, they will be returning to the stunning setting for four days and four nights, featuring some of the highest quality music, art and entertainment. An impressive array of bands have been booked, including Bonobo, Local Natives and Vondelpark. Equally impressive – and if not more so – is the fine selection of DJs that will be appearing across the Resident Advisor and Red Bull Music Academy stages. Three of the UK’s best DJs – Floating Points, James Holden and Ben UFO – will all be spinning records at some point over the weekend, and to finish things off, a rare five-hour back to back session from Detroit heroes Theo Parrish & Andres on Sunday night, which promises to be a real treat.
Tickets are very reasonably priced at around £100 for the weekend including camping, but they are running low, so we recommend that you book soon to avoid disappointment!
