Last Sunday the LURUFC 7s team travelled to Manchester to compete in the Samurai Sportswear Men’s Open. The team had an impressive start to the day with wins in all three of their group matches, LURUFC 26 v 12 Navy, LURUFC 56 v 0 Huddersfield University and LURUFC 28 v 26 Saxons. However in the Cup QF against Ellesmere they were unable to match their previous performances and eventually the final score was LURUFC 10 v 21 Ellesmere, however some consolation can be taken from the fact that Ellesmere went on to win the tournament convincingly. Notable players within the side were Lineham and Marshall who provided clean ball for Conville and O’Sullivan to show their pace and excellent finishing abilities. Nixon and Oliver flourished with ball in hand creating magic in the centre of the field. Well done boys!
