The party playlist; the ultimate tool for preparing for a night-out. With this year’s Summer Ball
featuring a whole host of acts, here are our expected musical highlights of the night:
1. Rudimental – ‘Feel The Love’
Ready to re-live the glorious summer of 2012? It may still be cold outside, but this summer hit is sure to provide the perfect pre-ball listening. Vocal chords and dance moves at the ready.
Rudimental (DJ Set) will take place in Stylus.
What the YouTubers are saying: ‘omg i luv this videoooooooooo and i luv horses sooooo much’
Somewhat of a guilty pleasure; as the first group to ever win The X Factor, Little Mix have become one of the biggest British girl bands of the moment, we’re just hoping they stay clear of their compulsory crop-tops which may not fit with the Summer Ball dress code.
Little Mix will be playing in The Refectory.
What the YouTubers are saying: ‘Best Song ever. Period.’
3. Mikill Pane – ‘Good Feeling’
Latest single from London rapper Mikill Pane discusses the ins and outs of the student party; completely fitting for the student audience. Catchy tunes and even a surprising collaboration with Katie Price on 2012 EP You Can Guest It, take it from us, Mikill Pane’s appearance should be one to look out for.
Mikill Pane will be playing in Mine
What the YouTubers are saying: ‘Fun fact in case you didn’t know: Mikill Pane is the rapper featured on the original “A Team” by Ed Sheeran called “Little Lady”. :)’
4. Danny Jones Feat.Roger Sanchez – ‘Tonight’
McFly’s Danny Jones has put his guitar away for his latest set of collaborations with dance- music great Roger Sanchez. Perhaps not the most expected move from the pop-rock boyband member, but Jones is ready to show off his new skills as a House DJ and Electronic Producer. With YouTube previews already clocking up views, this little-known track’s lyrics may not be a far cry from the easy-rhymes of McFly, but a great dance song nonetheless.
Danny Jones will be DJing in the Terrace
What the YouTubers are saying: ‘This song is actually going to be amazing i hope it gets released’
5. Dot Rotten ft. TMS – ‘Overload’
Named Hottest Record in the World by Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, ‘Overload’ got Dot Rotten his fair share of support as it hit the charts in 2012. With a nomination for BBC sound of 2012, the UK rapper has collaborated with artists such as Ed Sheeran and P Money, offering his talents as a Grime artist.
