12pm: Christopher Kane

Kane

London’s prodigy and PPR’s newest investment, Christopher Kane is hailed as one of British fashion’s best assets. Amassing a giant crowd and an uber-influential FROW, Donatella Versace and Anna Wintour were among those waiting to see what wonderboy would do next. Fortunately, he stepped up to the mark.

Offering a creatively rich collection which all stemmed from a healthy MRI scan, Kane successfully transferred his inspiration into intricate braiding details, textural appliqué and feather-spouting seams. Taking the “explosions in brain” to push his creativity up a notch, he used disconnected hems and frilled tulle-trims, alongisde Art Nouveau motifs to execute a decadent and gothic collection. Rosettes of appliqué highlighted his ability to conquer fine craftsmanship whilst a bold geometric patch dress was testament to his aptitude to innovate.

The collection had variety. Along with moody-blue cocktail dresses and refined suits, we saw cartoonish brain tees with colourful motifs. Kane was another one of the London lot to get nostalgic, by way of camouflage prints we donned circa 1997. Teamed with oversize furs and made up in raggedy appliqué, this was no Spice Girls camo, it was all very luxe.

Bringing brilliant things time and time again, hats off to the homeboy who brought electric shocks to the season.
