Music News: HMV Announces 66 Store Closures across UK

HMVPerhaps one of Britain’s most treasured music stores, HMV entered administration in January of this year. The administrators of the renowned store have announced today that they 66 of the current 220 UK HMV stores will close over the coming months.

The closures are estimated to affect around 930 staff who work at the soon-to-be-closed stores, as well as around 190 jobs across HMV’s distribution network and head office.

Failing to keep up with strong competition from online retailers and digital downloads, HMV has since suffered from low sales which has resulted in the company’s store closures.
