Lippy is an alternative women’s magazine which covers a diverse range of topics including politics, fashion, art and music. It prides itself in being different to conventional publications aimed at women. For those interested in writing, Lippy provides an opportunity to express opinion, engage in debate or explore a passion for music, fashion, art and more. Alternatively, for those more interested
in the creative side of things there are lots of opportunities to get involved in this too! Ultimately, Lippy aims to promote the views of
a diverse range of students and present them in a high quality and accessible fashion.

The society holds socials in venues such as Bar Room Bar and Nation of Shopkeepers, as well as various cafes and restaurants around Leeds. These are generally relaxed gatherings with the opportunity to listen to live music, have a few drinks and get to know people better in a more social environment. Meetings for the writers’, creative and marketing teams are held on Wednesdays upstairs in the Union – everyone is welcome! These gatherings are largely informal, offering the chance to share ideas or talk about topical issues and recent events. There is no obligation to write every week or attend every meeting; you can write as regularly or as casually as you wish. Meetings are, however, an opportunity to discuss and develop your ideas with a group of creative and interesting people. Weekly articles are posted on the website, the content of which is wide-ranging.

Lippy also publishes one themed print issue per semester. The theme for this semester’s upcoming issue is ‘The Unseen’, which has naturally given rise to many exciting and insightful interpretations. To promote and celebrate this latest print edition, Lippy is hosting a launch party at Nation of Shopkeepers on Tuesday November 27 at 8pm with the promise of drinks, live music and even cupcakes! Entry is free and again everyone is welcome. Each issue is £3 and, following the launch, magazines will be sold outside Essentials in the
Union from Wednesday 28 until Friday 30 November.
