Friday 23rd November
11pm – 5am

This Friday will see acclaimed Swedish techno duo Skudge hit up The Garage in Leeds for a night run by UK blog/promoters Hush House. Skudge have garnered attention over the past couple of years for a string of excellent releases on their own Skudge Records, and continue to move forward at a rapid pace, having recently put out a 12″ on Instra:mental’s Nonplus imprint, as well as a new addition to the Skudge Records catalogue, ‘Haste/Wonder Stories’ in November. Their sound is minimal yet tough, not doing anything particularly radical with techno’s firmly set structures and conventions but tightening and refining them, with not one hi-hat or vocal snippet out of place.
Their high production values may partly explain the idea behind this night. Not content with just a standard techno set, Skudge are playing live, using old analogue equipment for a fuller sound, and allowing them to improvise their material in a club environment. Live techno can be very rewarding when done right: you’ll hear music being created live, which may never be heard again, making this installment of Hush House a very exciting prospect.
Support comes from Widnes DJ and Hush House contributor Dylan Thompson, as well as additional Hush House residents R. Cary & J. Were.
