Whilst many of the LFW collections were debuted at the stylish Topshop tent or in the grandeur of Freemason’s Hall, House of Holland’s spring ‘13 show was staged in a NCP car park in Soho. It doesn’t exactly scream ‘fashion’, but the arrival of Henry Holland’s cool-kid pals including Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof, Poppy Delevingne and Nicola Roberts confirmed that this was in fact the show to be at. Inspired by Holland’s 90s youth, the spring collection featured blown-up check patterns, tie-dye, floral prints, flowers made of sequins and of course, the odd slogan tee. Accompanied by a nostalgic soundtrack of 90’s classics, with ‘Groove is in the Heart’ and Shampoo’s hit ‘Trouble’ as personal favourites, models stormed the catwalk in bright tie-dyed dungarees, crop tops and baggy shirts. Elsewhere, bustier dresses in blue, black and yellow, 3/4 length jacquard trousers and patent bomber jackets all featured in the effortlessly cool collection. The models were styled with metallic patent boots, heavy bronze eye make-up and slouchy beanie hats glitzed up with jewels. The House of Holland collection was fun and playful as always, this time round with a hint of nostalgia and an extra dose of grunge. All in all, a hipster’s paradise.
